The East Boston Neighborhood Health Center serves the surrounding communities of East Boston, Winthrop and Beverly. The addition to the facility on Gove Street near the entrance to the Callahan Tunnel will improve its' capacity to take care of local health needs. The facility is comprised of several buildings, all clustered at a busy intersection. MSA devised ways to create a unified identity for the Center by using brick walls and wrought iron fences to contain the parking and to emphasize the shared intersection. A series of small brass logos was placed on the fence panels at the building entrances, and started a program of using the same small logos at the Health Center's several other sites in the Boston area.
To make the Center more welcoming at the new Gove Street entrance, we've located comfortable shaded benches and colorful planters. The landscape allows the new center to be recognized as a whole, rather than as an unrelated group of buildings.
