East Cambridge Savings Bank - Cambridge, MA

Our landscape at the new branch of the East Cambridge Savings Bank includes entry court gardens, perimeter plantings, street tree plantings and a roof top garden. The scheme's focal point is a "parterre-like" entrance garden, composed with decorative bluestone gravel paths and Paperbark Maples. The Maples are under-planted with Pachysandra and Tulips. The street tree planting of Honey Locusts provides a shady border along the sidewalks. Redbuds placed near the building's walls will grow in a horizontally branching form, providing a counterpoint to the verticals of the architecture. A simple border of evergreen junipers complete the planting at the foot of the building.

The design team at Mary Smith Associates worked closely with the architect and the client to develop a plan that would complement both the architecture and the bank's image, while remaining well within the budget.
