Quincy City Hall Public Garden - Quincy, MA

Here is the new entry plaza and public garden for Quincy City Hall in downtown Quincy. Our design gives the City Hall an elegant new entrance and defines the "gateway" to Quincy from the MBTA station. MSA's design included a lavish flowerbed as the focal point of the octagonal brick plaza in front of City Hall. Benches, lawns and flower beds line the plaza providing inviting places for people to congregate. A colonnade of cherry trees connects the plaza to the main walkway through the public garden.

Broad expanses of lawns, stately trees and flowering shrubs provide a verdant and restful setting for the citizens of Quincy to enjoy as well as a pleasant introduction to the city for visitors. This project has required close coordination with city agencies, the mayor of Quincy and other consultants. Many design options were studied prior to settling on a final scheme which met all of the city requirements. As the lead designer MSA hired and supervised an architect for renovations to the building.

Part of the design which adds a unique character and provides Quincy residents with a sense of pride in their new park are the thousands of brick pavers inscribed with donors names.
