The River Bay Club in Quincy represents a new direction for a building that had originally been planned as a condominium highrise. Its new developers have changed the program for the building to congregate housing and have added many features that are appealing to senior citizens, including a special focus on landscape architecture.
We were able to adapt the landscape to the unique needs of its older tenants. Visual enjoyment and comfort are major considerations. Convenient seating areas are located in both sunny and shady areas. A well-lit plaza and a large gazebo have been placed in the rear of the building for social events and casual visiting. A romantic vine draped arbor is built in a shady spot that is visible from both the main entry and the windows above it. Walkways wrap around raised planters and gracious walls, while colorful drifts of perennial plantings outline the edges of the gazebo and rear plaza. Thick hedging and a strong wall seperate the development form the main street and give a sense of peaceful enclosure and security.
River Bay Club will be a new home where its tenants will be proud to entertain both family and friends, and not just a place to live.
